Watching the 2012 Olympics Road Race on the big screen in the park,

next to Meadowbank Stadium, the home of Dorking F.C.

 

The Road Race went through Dorking and round nearby Box Hill

December 2012:

Nice weather for ducks in the park after the rain.

Xmas Trafalgar Square

In Trafalgar Square, the Christmas tree from the Norwegian people in front of the National Gallery.

 There is also have a crib or Nativity scene in a display case

with an angel, shepherds anfd farm animals represented

Meanwhile in Elizabeth Street, Belgravia they have chandeliers as Christmas lights,

Somerset House and water fountains at night

The courtyard of Somerset House and its water fountains at night.
The current Somerset House was built as government offices around 1800. Parts of it were occupied for many years by the Inland Revenue with the courtyard used as a car park, but the buildings now house various art exhibitions and the courtyard is open to the public.
The water fountains will soon be replaced by an ice rink for the winter months. The courtyard has also been used for concerts and fashion shows in recent years.

Regents Canal temporary closure 2

The Regents Canal is dammed by the Gasometers in Cambridge Heath, East London for repairs to the canal walls. The canal and towpath between the gasometers and the Old Ford Lock is closed for 8 weeks from early February. The rainwater seems to be filling up the canal again.

A week earlier, the gasometers were fuller.

The Regents Canal is being temporarily closed for 8 weeks for repairs to the canal walls between Victoria Park and Broadway Market. The barges have gone and the canal is being drained.
