Shell Centre walkway, Southbank, London
This walkway from Waterloo Station through the Shell Centre to the Southbank has been closed for several years.
Next to the walkway is a sculpture "Torsion Fountain" (also known as The Shell Fountain) by Franta Belsky.
In July 2011 Shell announced that a joint venture of Canary Wharf Group and Qatari Diar had bought a 999 year lease on the Shell Centre for £300m and would redevelop the site, subject to planning permission. The tower is to be retained but the rest of the site would be replaced by a new scheme of offices, shops and restaurants.
